The forum have been very very busy to say the least. Our membership has increased by over 60% from last year with an increase over 80% since the new committee took over in September 2015.
The new committee have worked hard to bring the forum up to speed with the developing SEND world, that seems to be very fast paced. More work is coming in via other avenues and word is getting out there that organisations can hire us to do consultations etc.
SEND meetings, like all meetings, that the forum have been asked to attend is rapidly growing, with meetings being booked in advance as far as January 2018. We have sat in on 84 meetings in total, 56 of which are SEND, this equates to 348 hours for 2 reps for SEND meetings and 128 hours for non SEND meetings which equates to 476 hours in total for 2 reps, since September!!
We are also working with Adele from conatct a family about a support group package, where we will provide existing support groups insurance, resources and publicity in exchange for feedback - so if you're interested - let us know!
So what's next? Well we do have an exciting announcement coming up in the next couple of weeks, which cements the forum and we are currently planning our stand for the Short Breaks day on the 2nd July and co producing the Local Authorities SEND conference, being held on 29th September.
It's been really exciting times and the hard work is starting to pay off, but we dont want to sit on our laurels. We want to make a change and get your voice heard in every way we can, so thank you for all your support, it's greatly appreciated!
